Let The Healing Continue

Doreen Lettsome Reid

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

I would advise people to pray this prayer, “Now, Lord, look on all of these threats, and grant to Your servant BOLDNESS, that with all boldness I may speak Your Word; stretch forth out Your hand to heal and that signs and wonders (great miracles of healing and deliverance) may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus Christ” Acts 4:29 NKJV.

We must understand that the Lord, God Almighty, sees all the threats that are going on in the world today; on a global level as well as with us on a personal level. This is why the Lord, God Almighty, has given us the right and the privilege to come in His presence in prayer through His Son Jesus Christ shed blood to receive strength, boldness, courage, peace, everything we need in His presence. “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” and trouble Hebrews 4:16 NIV.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

My book, He’s Worthy, is a great resource to help people right now during these uncertain times. He’s Worthy is an inspirational book that compiles the Word of God and poetry to bring healing, deliverance, and salvation to readers. It took me 8 years to write the book He’s Worthy because it was such a time of great darkness and uncertainty but God used the poems He gave me and 8 years of continuous study and research of the bible to deliver me from all of the darkness and uncertainty I was feeling and facing during that time.

I would also encourage people to take advantage of all the free resources that God Almighty, has already provided his people. We have free access to His presence, the Bible, and to His house (church); in his presence is the fullness of joy and in His presence there are pleasures forever more; we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together; but exhorting one another and as much more as you see the day approaching Hebrews 10:25, Psalms 16:11.

What is your personal mission in life?

I believe my personal mission is to use the various platforms God has given to me such as my company: Divine Connection Network Association, LLC; The Entrepreneur Moment Facebook Group, The Entrepreneur Moment Live Show, and Unlock What’s Inside Your Radio Segment to point people to Jesus Christ. God has given me these platforms so that people can come to know Him in the marketplace and in the traditional church setting.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

The biggest challenge that I have overcome and continue to deal with is fighting to be me. Protecting my identity, anointing, and the call of God on my life has been very challenging. Since I was born into the world I was rejected for who I am and those that were supposed to love me did not. Instead they abused, mishandled, mistreated and misunderstood me. It has not been easy being me. I am bold and I have a unique voice; I am often told my voice echoes and that I am too loud. People are constantly trying to put me into the role or box they think I should be in while they try to silence me, intimidate me, and hold me back.

Furthermore, I am not polished nor do I desire to be so, I am raw. I know how God uses me but when others don’t understand me or are threatened by the way God uses me there are a lot of challenges seen and unseen that constantly occur. This can be exhausting fighting to be who you are and allow God to use you the way He sees fit , all while maintaining the great balance of not going to the left hand or to the right hand ,maintaining spiritual balance and developing spiritual maturity.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

Prayer, lots and lots of prayer. Plus God sent mentors into my life to help me develop the gifting in me while learning how to maintain spiritual balance. I walked behind my primary mentor for 20 years and it was not always easy because there were times it seemed that I was even being rejected by her, however this was the enemy trying to come in to steal me away from the one God assigned to help me and teach me that I am uniquely made.

How do you define leadership?

Leadership is based solely on what you do; I can’t emphasis this enough, the things my mentor taught me I learned by watching her life. I watched how she would come in to teach Tuesday night bible study for years while working 3rd shift and sitting at the hospital all day with both of her children when they had a sickle cell crisis. Then she would teach and preach the gospel with such fire, conviction, and love for God and His people in the midst of dealing with great criticism from church people and dealing with family issues. This is true leadership: it’s measured by what you do not say; leaders should always let their work speak for them.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

Shame is not of God; He said we would never be put to shame. Even while we’re yet sinners he died for us and gave us the gift of salvation. Therefore, shame is a fear tactic from Satan because it’s his job to steal, kill, and destroy us and one of the prime ways Satan achieves his goal, is to silence us. If we are silent this means he has rendered us inactive, inoperative, and ineffective. Throughout the book of Psalms we see the words “I will say of the Lord” , “I will say”, “I will say” therefore, we must be bold enough and courageous enough to lift our voice and tell others the goodness of Jesus.
