Dr. Cheryl Wood

As a parent how is race and current events impacting your family and how are you handling it?

As the mother of two young Black boys (12-years old and 13-years old) and one Black daughter (16-years old), with the current racial unrest, I’ve had to have some difficult, repeat conversations with my children to remind them that the world will not love them, respect them, and honor them like I do simply because of their skin color. I find myself trying to explain why the world views them as a threat just because they’re Black. When I talk to my children about this topic, I don’t sugar-coat it. I tell them the raw, authentic truth but remind them that they come from royalty and are not less than just because the world tries to deem them as such.  As angry as this topic makes me personally as a parent, I also include topics such as grace, love, kindness, and forgiveness in my conversations with my children. And I remind them to use the power of their Voice & their Vote to create change!

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

I encourage you to consistently monitor and master your mindset.  To monitor your mindset means you intentionally check-in with yourself and make sure that what you’re thinking matches how you want to feel, what you want to experience, and what you actually want to achieve.  Grant yourself permission to operate in a peak state in spite of current world affairs and all the uncertainty looming around you.  Laser focus on positive thinking and positive actions everyday perhaps through prayer or meditation, listening to inspirational/motivational videos and podcasts that uplift your spirit, spending time with family and friends engaging in happiness and laughter (even if it’s through virtual platforms right now), and starting a gratitude journal to acknowledge what you value and appreciate now in the face of all the uncertainty.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

Fill and fuel your mind with all things positive.  Here are two of my favorite books:

Book #1:  13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do by Amy Morin

Book #2:  Grace Not Perfection by Emily Ley

What is your personal mission in life?

My personal mission in life is to empower women globally to recognize their ability to take control of their present reality and define their future possibilities.  I want women to know that they never have to feel stuck and without options at any season in their lives especially if they are unhappy or unfulfilled. They have the right to give themselves permission to shift in a new direction, to change their narrative, and to set new expectations for themselves.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

When I first started on my success journey, I struggled with toxic self-talk and accepting the negative belief system of others.  I questioned whether or not I was “qualified” to be a leader who could impact the lives of others.  I allowed my poverty-filled background, my lack of a college degree, and all the things society said about what it takes to be successful – all the things I was lacking – to cloud out the truth that I was already pre-approved and pre-validated to succeed by a higher source. I focused too much of my energy on what I was lacking instead of what I had that would support my success.  I had to learn to stop talking myself out of my own God-given greatness!

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

I became increasingly intentional day-by-day about objecting to my own toxic self-talk.  Whenever I caught myself falling into my old patterns of language that reflected fear, scarcity, lack and negativity, I began disconnecting that conversation and replacing the toxic words with empowering words.  I created powerful mantras and affirmations to reaffirm that I could succeed at anything I put my mind to.  One of my most repeated mantras on my journey to success was:  I am capable!  I am worthy!  I am enough!… Just as I am!!!

How do you define leadership?

Leadership is a willingness to go to the front of the room and bring as many people with you as possible.  It’s a commitment to build an inspiring vision, set new direction, and inspire and influence others to commit to the same vision and to discover their own potential in the process.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

I challenge you to work diligently at turning all the hurt you’re hoarding into a blueprint for somebody else’s healing.  Reflect on all the lessons you learned and the characteristics you developed from everything you experienced.  Then, stand ON the power of your story instead of hiding IN the shame of your story.  That means speaking up boldly about your story with transparency and vulnerability.  Remind yourself daily, “My story is ABOUT me but it ain’t FOR me.” Just think about it – you broke through the very things that were meant to break you down which means you now have the answer to someone else’s pain.  All the hurt, drama, trauma, turmoil, and pain you experienced, only carries weight when you’re wiling to use it to help someone else... otherwise, it just becomes “something you went through”.

LOVE & LIGHT SERIES: Dr. LaTrice Shares

Dr. LaTrice Williams

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

Now is a time to solidify and recommit in relationship and surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no cookie cutter answer to navigating uncertainty. Uncertain times or circumstances, much like we are living in now, manifest its effects differently in each of us. It is important to be honest with yourself, with those who support and love you and with God about how you are feeling. Acknowledge what you feel, but know that you do not have to be overwhelmed or consumed by it. It is also important to look ahead. We have to look beyond where we are now in prayer in anticipation of what is to come and then begin to work toward what we see. During times of uncertainty, it's a time to be intentional, truthful and open to God's direction to navigate your personal uncertainties. Lastly, do not fall prey to comparison. Each person navigates differently. What works for them, may not be the method God will use to help you navigate these times.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

My first suggestion is your personal safe places. These are the people that you can confide in without fearing judgment. These people are God resources to your life. It's crucial that we tap into the Kingdom currency of relationships. Make time to share, to talk, to pour out and to receive. Sometimes a simple conversation can help to shift your mindset and the atmosphere of your life causing you to see beyond what you see.

My second suggestion is to NOT be prideful. Reach out to community partners for the assistance you may need. It may be food resources, therapeutic services, or financial assistance. We are in a season that an abundance of uncommon resources are being released. Seek out and tap into those resources. Seek relief in areas that seem overwhelming for you. For example - your finance companies for vehicle and home loans. There are relief efforts in place but they will require us to release our pride; make the calls; ask the questions, and receive the help.

What is your personal mission in life?

My personal mission is to push people to pursue destiny! I am The Destiny Driver. I'm sent to equip, train, build, nurture and cultivate the gifts of those assigned to me directly and indirectly. My mission includes Kingdom impact and influence that will propel people to successfully fulfill their God purpose. It is ultimately for the glory of God and also to manifest their gifts, callings, and God given Destiny in the earth to become solutions, answers and transformers for those they are assigned to. My mission is that no person I encounter will miss God or their destiny in Him. Through teaching, preaching, training and mentoring, I live out my God given personal mission in life.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

Myself! I had to get over LaTrice. What I was and what I wasn't. What I was told I was and what was said that I wouldn't be. I had to get beyond what was done to me, who did it and the lies they told about why. The negative self image that was deposited in me by people's behaviors and words, through abandonment, rape and molestation had to be destroyed in me. What was done to me had taken me far from what God created me to be. So, I had to get over me. Get out of my feelings and get real.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

I finally realized that I was not what they did to me. Period. I became intentional about my thoughts and I finally surrendered completely to God and accepted who I am in Him. Embracing that prayer and knowing God personally has forever changed me. It took time, being intentional and staying focused on God.

 How do you define leadership?

(This is my short answer) Leadership is the ability to coach, empower, encourage, push, correct, train and equip people to be the best and most successful version of themselves. It is NOT creating mini-me's or carbon copies of yourself. Leadership pulls out both the best and the worst in people and actively teaches them to navigate both in their lives. It is also the ability to take people as far as you can take them, give them everything you're assigned to give and gracefully push them into their next level, dimension, place and purpose. Leadership is personal! It's passionate! It's purposeful! And it should always push people to pursue destiny and legacy.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

Sharing your story creates a level of freedom the enemy does not want you to experience. Whatever your story, there is someone who can relate and someone who can benefit. The shame is not in sharing your story, regardless of how gory it may have been. Your story may be the answer to someone else's dilemma. Your story may be the story that breaks a yoke off of someone else's life. You lived through it so someone else wouldn't have to die in it. Release the shame to God and set yourself free!

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

As we're continuing to manage the impact of COVID-19, this is an awesome opportunity to perform a self-evaluation of where we are emotionally and take inventory of those areas of opportunity where we need to improve and grow. We must be careful not to become fearful, but rather to embrace the changes around us. Our mindset is a huge part of that. Maintaining a posture of positivity and gratitude is key. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 reminds us, "In all things, give thanks...for it is the will of God concerning you." We must also be careful not to fall into a state of complacency. That said, I would advise the following:

-- Command your day. Formulate a schedule or regimen to ensure that you remain engaged and focused on the tasks at hand. Don't allow boredom and slothfulness to take hold of you.

-- Don't ignore your physical and mental health. Be good to your mind, body, and spirit...pray, meditate, journal, eat healthy and nutritious foods, move your body...go outside and take a nice walk. Also, remember to stay connected with loved ones and friends.

-- Explore new things or challenge yourself to step outside of the box. Perhaps start a garden, find an online class that will enhance your professional development, or tap into your creative side and take up painting.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

Two resources I highly recommend and continue to be beneficial in my life are Safe People by Henry Cloud and John Townsend; and Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brene Brown

What is your personal mission in life?

My personal mission in life is to minister to hurting and underserved women as a result of past trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Through compassion, encouragement and transparency, I want them to know that despite their shortcomings, failed relationships, and bad decisions, God works all things together for their good, and is no respecter of persons when it comes to healing and deliverance.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

One of the biggest challenges I overcame was being freed from the bondage of pleasing people, which nearly destroyed my life.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

It was the Word of God  that delivered me from this destructive stronghold. When I truly accepted who I was from God's perspective and relinquished the need of pleasing others, my life was transformed in a powerful way.

How do you define leadership?

The ability to lead effectively and inspire others by example. Effective leadership is achieved by one who is selfless and serves others by helping them reach their highest potential. They are passionate about their vision and exhibit courage and humility, often challenging the status quo. As a leader, if no one is following you, you're just taking a walk!

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

Never be ashamed to share your story or to "show your scars". You never know who you may inspire through your perseverance and determination to never give up. We all have a story, and it's through the fragments of our brokenness that encourages others that they can overcome too.

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

I would advise people to pray this prayer, “Now, Lord, look on all of these threats, and grant to Your servant BOLDNESS, that with all boldness I may speak Your Word; stretch forth out Your hand to heal and that signs and wonders (great miracles of healing and deliverance) may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus Christ” Acts 4:29 NKJV.

We must understand that the Lord, God Almighty, sees all the threats that are going on in the world today; on a global level as well as with us on a personal level. This is why the Lord, God Almighty, has given us the right and the privilege to come in His presence in prayer through His Son Jesus Christ shed blood to receive strength, boldness, courage, peace, everything we need in His presence. “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” and trouble Hebrews 4:16 NIV.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

My book, He’s Worthy, is a great resource to help people right now during these uncertain times. He’s Worthy is an inspirational book that compiles the Word of God and poetry to bring healing, deliverance, and salvation to readers. It took me 8 years to write the book He’s Worthy because it was such a time of great darkness and uncertainty but God used the poems He gave me and 8 years of continuous study and research of the bible to deliver me from all of the darkness and uncertainty I was feeling and facing during that time.

I would also encourage people to take advantage of all the free resources that God Almighty, has already provided his people. We have free access to His presence, the Bible, and to His house (church); in his presence is the fullness of joy and in His presence there are pleasures forever more; we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together; but exhorting one another and as much more as you see the day approaching Hebrews 10:25, Psalms 16:11.

What is your personal mission in life?

I believe my personal mission is to use the various platforms God has given to me such as my company: Divine Connection Network Association, LLC; The Entrepreneur Moment Facebook Group, The Entrepreneur Moment Live Show, and Unlock What’s Inside Your Radio Segment to point people to Jesus Christ. God has given me these platforms so that people can come to know Him in the marketplace and in the traditional church setting.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

The biggest challenge that I have overcome and continue to deal with is fighting to be me. Protecting my identity, anointing, and the call of God on my life has been very challenging. Since I was born into the world I was rejected for who I am and those that were supposed to love me did not. Instead they abused, mishandled, mistreated and misunderstood me. It has not been easy being me. I am bold and I have a unique voice; I am often told my voice echoes and that I am too loud. People are constantly trying to put me into the role or box they think I should be in while they try to silence me, intimidate me, and hold me back.

Furthermore, I am not polished nor do I desire to be so, I am raw. I know how God uses me but when others don’t understand me or are threatened by the way God uses me there are a lot of challenges seen and unseen that constantly occur. This can be exhausting fighting to be who you are and allow God to use you the way He sees fit , all while maintaining the great balance of not going to the left hand or to the right hand ,maintaining spiritual balance and developing spiritual maturity.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

Prayer, lots and lots of prayer. Plus God sent mentors into my life to help me develop the gifting in me while learning how to maintain spiritual balance. I walked behind my primary mentor for 20 years and it was not always easy because there were times it seemed that I was even being rejected by her, however this was the enemy trying to come in to steal me away from the one God assigned to help me and teach me that I am uniquely made.

How do you define leadership?

Leadership is based solely on what you do; I can’t emphasis this enough, the things my mentor taught me I learned by watching her life. I watched how she would come in to teach Tuesday night bible study for years while working 3rd shift and sitting at the hospital all day with both of her children when they had a sickle cell crisis. Then she would teach and preach the gospel with such fire, conviction, and love for God and His people in the midst of dealing with great criticism from church people and dealing with family issues. This is true leadership: it’s measured by what you do not say; leaders should always let their work speak for them.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

Shame is not of God; He said we would never be put to shame. Even while we’re yet sinners he died for us and gave us the gift of salvation. Therefore, shame is a fear tactic from Satan because it’s his job to steal, kill, and destroy us and one of the prime ways Satan achieves his goal, is to silence us. If we are silent this means he has rendered us inactive, inoperative, and ineffective. Throughout the book of Psalms we see the words “I will say of the Lord” , “I will say”, “I will say” therefore, we must be bold enough and courageous enough to lift our voice and tell others the goodness of Jesus.

Dr. DeNae Lemay

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

I would say “ FEAR NOT” for the Kingdom of Heaven is NEVER in a crisis! Though we may be experiencing many shifts and changes right now, we must be reminded that we are never left without His promises! For He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us and that He would be a very present help in times such as these. We must remember what Jesus spoke to us through His word, which was; In this world you will experience times of uncertainty, tribulation and unexpected change but to hold on to our confidence knowing that He has already overcome, and if He has overcome the world then so can we!

Crisis is not a time to cry but to create. Crisis is an opportunity for course corrections and new ideas to be developed. Crisis forces us to think in new, different and innovative ways. God always provides a strategy. Therefore, I would recommend that you take  this time to inquire and rise above the chatter and fulfill your destiny!

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

Two of my favorite resources is the Bible which is hands down the best resource to navigate through times like these. The Bible records of times past when such events took place and shows how the King caused His people to prevail through it all. Another great resource is a powerful book which was written by my Spiritual Father the late Dr. Myles Munroe entitled “ Overcoming Crisis the Secrets to Thriving in Challenging Times”. This is a must have resource & I highly recommend it. Information is key and this book is filled with keys to overcome during this season.

What is your personal mission in life?

My mission is to see women know their identity, understand their purpose, and live as royalty no matter the circumstances that life has placed upon them. Living in a palace doesn’t make you a queen. Riding in a chariot doesn’t make you a queen. Wearing designer clothes doesn’t make you a queen. What makes you a queen is understanding that your position comes from your birthright. As a daughter of a king, you are automatically classified in the family of Royalty, and as Royalty, you are an inheritor of all the wealth and privilege of your father, the King. All rights and privileges of the kingdom belong to you. Once this concept is understood I believe you can pursue your purpose with boldness and confidence. I did not grow up knowing my identity. I spent many years making poor decisions because I didn’t know “who I was”. This is why I am committed to empowering women to know their identity, to know their worth, to understand their purpose and reason for being in the earth. I must reach them. I must teach them. They must be empowered to live above their circumstances and fulfill their destiny.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

One of the biggest challenges I have had to overcome has been rejection. Rejection is a thief. It steals your beliefs, identity and any good that would be sent into your life. It caused me to retreat, refrain and refuse to believe I had any worth or value. There were times I would break out, but it would only be short lived. Until I had enough of feeling like a victim and knew I was destined for greater & for more.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

Rejection, was like a deep pit to me but I came out and so can you! It was work but the reward has been far greater then the pain of going through the process. I came out “head first” because my mind was the place of my problem. Not people nor what had been done to me, but it was my thinking. I had to retrain my mind and change my thoughts so that they aligned with the word of God. I had to be intentional and not give excuses to old patterns and emotions. I was fighting for my freedom, for my husband, for my children and for the destiny upon my life, and that was reason enough to go through instead of asking to be delivered from. I am thankful for He has brought me through to the promise!

How do you define leadership?

In my book, “Royalty, in Pursuit of the Crown” I discuss and define leadership with one word RESPONSIBILITY. Those that are chosen to lead must do so with the understanding that there is responsibility attached to their position. As a parent, as a pastor, as a CEO, as a coach or as a government official there is a responsibility to the position you hold and the people you serve. We must not forfeit the responsibility. This will cause deficits and delays and allow areas to go unchecked that must be maintained. We need leaders and we need them to arise Now!

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

To those that are ashamed I would say “ DO IT AFRAID”! With your knees shaking and palms sweating,DON’T hold back what you have overcome! You never know who has been waiting to hear your story

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

While some people associate uncertainty with unknown challenges, I have always viewed uncertainty as a pathway to explore unlimited possibilities. Everyone is currently living in a very challenging situation, but I believe that we can use this time as a springboard to new opportunities. To help people navigate uncertainty right now, I think it is important to focus on achieving one small goal every day, whether that is taking a walk or calling a friend, before you transition into thinking about your long-term goals.

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

Throughout the summer, we will be hosting virtual panels that allow our community to learn from successful leaders across the country, so please check out www.genheration.com to view new opportunities every week. Thank you, Tierra for being a featured expert during our Community Connection Series this spring!

I also recommend reading the book Shoe Dog by the founder of Nike, Phil Knight. It is an autobiography that is a true testament to the power of perseverance.

What is your personal mission in life?

My mission in life is to start companies that have a BIG impact on the world!

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

When I first started my company, I was a 19-year-old college student and I needed Fortune 500 executives to believe in my idea before I even had a product, customers, or employees.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

I reached out to anyone and everyone in my school’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, including alumni entrepreneurs, professors, and community leaders, to learn from their experiences. This process helped me learn about a variety of topics, ranging from product development to managing a team, and how to prioritize the most important tasks needed to start a new venture.

How do you define leadership?

Leadership is learning how to utilize your talents to bring out the best in others. The most effective leaders empower others to work together in pursuit of a shared vision and create opportunities that nurture their team members’ personal growth.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

There is always someone out there who can learn from your story. By sharing your story, you will become a source of inspiration for others who can apply the lessons that you learned from your journey, to transform their own lives.

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

In the face of an overwhelming tidal wave of bad news about the coronavirus, what we need most right now are daily reminders of our better human selves. An extraordinary unraveling is occurring, and no one will be untouched. The social and economic disruptions of this crisis will be deep, broad, and longlasting. Learning from each other when so many of us are facing fear and physical isolation; it is essential that we find ways to connect with others and share our collective knowledge of solutions. We must remind ourselves that we are part of a greater community, and that our greater purpose is to emerge from this crisis with the tools to build a better world. During this season of purposeful PIVOT and SHIFTING, I partake in online conversations about solutions arising in your community and family, reconnect with people via Zoom, WhatsApp, and Google hangouts, and declutter (mind, body, and closet).

Please share one or two available resources that can help people right now.

Ask people what their biggest survival need is right now and what you can do. Often, people ask how they can help you. Most of the time, it is not genuine; it is a way of just being friendly -- it is like asking, "How are you doing?" without waiting for the answer. This is a time to mean it. Now, I am asking, "Really, what can I do to help?" Even if I am just serving as a resource, I want to help keep others afloat. Recently, a friend asked me how he could save money on volume purchases, and I mentioned trying group purchasing. I connected him to a friend, who is an expert on the topic. I don't know whether he ended up doing anything with that information, but I at least connected him to a person who was a lot smarter than I am on the topic. Do you know where something low in stock can still be acquired? Do you have a cousin who does personal finance consulting? Are you friendly with investors who are still looking for strong bets in this economy? These are all assets you can share to help others survive. As we all adjust to this NEW normal, its important to plan for LONG term success. These are a few things I am doing to SECURE my place amid the SHIFT.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

Early in my career I was given the opportunity to run a small business. We had outside investors and a great opportunity in front of us. I will not go into the full story but, what I can tell you is that my communication skills at that time prevented me from ever moving that business and opportunity forward in a meaningful way. Ever since then I strive to work with coaches to ensure my communication skills are always in development. Communication is the way we connect with others. I constantly want to be improving it.

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

I started making contracts with myself to deliver success. I found this to be particularly valuable when I was struggling with belief, commitment and/or motivation. Additionally, I found that by formalizing an arrangement detailing my goals and when I will deliver it, I am much more likely to be successful. This may seem a slightly bizarre approach, but the more formal the contract, the greater the chances of delivering on commitment to it. Your contract raises the selective importance of your goal, and provides the necessary motivation to persist with the appropriate amount of work until you have delivered success. Asking a third party, someone close to you, to witness the contract will raise the importance of the contract and the responsibility on you to deliver success. Having made a contract, place it in a prominent place, like the fridge. This will increase the importance of your commitment to the contract and raise the profile of the reward once you deliver success.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

We are silently judging them, and the verdict is not good. It is not just the people around us that are confused. We are just as perplexed by our own behavior. This said, talking about myself is one of the things that makes me most uncomfortable. There are a million other things I would rather discuss than myself and my stories. There is a reason for this – it is vulnerable to tell your personal stories. It requires a lot of emotional and mental energy for me to feel okay sharing my stories, and I know that I am certainly not alone. Moving into a place where I am (slightly) more comfortable being vulnerable with people is something that I have been working on for years. That means being authentic. Certainly, easier said than done. The answers to most of my “what if” questions are almost always “yes.” Yes, I will learn new things that I wish would be in the book called LIFE.

In light of the recent events impacting our nation, what advice would you give to people in order to help them navigate the uncertainty?

Because people have different life experiences there is no one piece of advice that would be fitting for the masses. The one thing I lean towards in these uncertain times is prayer as a believer, and doing it on a more consistent basis while including my daily message on FB and texts to family, friends and front line colleagues.

Other general words of advice would be:

·        Stay connected with loved ones via phone, Zoom or DUO

·        Continue daily regimens as best as possible especially if working from home; shower, get dressed

·         Meditate, exercise for the mental/physical health (You Tube)

·        Take advantage of FREE Eventbrite events that are in-line with your interests

·        Reinvent yourself by engaging your creative side

·        Ensure you are NOT overindulging in anything unhealthy nor compromising to your immune system

·        Implement a daily vitamin and other supplements you are lacking due to your dietary consumption

What is your personal mission in life?

My personal mission is to assist people on their trajectory for success, whatever success means to that individual and not the warped sense that society places on it.

What is one of the biggest challenges you have overcome?

Arriving at a place of self-discovery/solace while improving my self-esteem after being a victim of Teenage Pregnancy and then Domestic Violence within a short timespan (15-20 years of age).

What was one action that helped you overcome this challenge?

In dealing with DV, it was the action of my abuser that finally made me leave.  He pulled a gun on me in the presence of my cousin, best friend and most importantly my daughter.  In that very brief moment, I knew he was not changed, nor changing anytime soon, as the abuse wasn’t bad enough and then he pulls a gun!!! As a mother, my instinct was to protect my daughter and those in my midst ---that was the last day of being in the TOXIC relationship!

How do you define leadership?

Leadership is about being people driven. One who sets attainable goals for the team’s success which includes being an attentive listener and one who is not afraid of making decisions by any means necessary.

What advice would you give to someone that is ashamed to share their story?

I would encourage a person to share their story by telling them, “your testimony can be the saving grace for another human life. And not to be afraid of people talking because they will talk whether you’re doing good or bad!”  Caveat – They talked about Jesus😊.

Tracy Johnson Bio

Raised in a small predominately white suburban town in Connecticut by a single mother conjointly with my grandparents, I wanted for nothing as a child.  As the only child, some would think I was spoiled but that is the furthest from the truth.  I had the luxuries of a great education coupled with the foundational basics of love, kindness and ethics.

I am a mother, daughter and loyal friend who is self-less until you show me reason to distance myself.  A self-published author who is a life learner obtaining my BS Paralegal Studies, MS Human Services and Life Coaching Certification in my adult years, because my younger years were dedicated to the rearing of my daughter, which was my ultimate priority.

In 2004, I began exploring my entrepreneurial skills and begun Tasteez Ethnic Cuisine Catering on a part time basis due to my passion and charismatic ability to create appetizing food at unbeatable price point while providing that eureka moment via the client visual and palate sensory.  It proved to be profitable but overwhelming with work, school and a teenager.   I reinvented myself in 2016 including other passions under one platform called Perfectly Paired Online, which included my online fashion boutique, party favors and catering options which is ever evolving, as I continue to learn more about TRACY.

I am what you my colleagues refer to as the GO TO GIRL or the FIXER.
